Leigh Macijewski Wilson

Leigh Macijewski Wilson, 60, of Conover, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at Amorem Hospice.

Born on November 28, 1965, Leigh was the daughter of Ellis August Macijewski and Joan Messick Macijewski of Hickory. A graduate of Hickory High School and UNC Charlotte, where she earned her bachelor’s degree, she devoted more than thirty years of her career to serving as a social worker at Broughton Hospital. Her compassion, selflessness, kindness, and empathy made her especially suited to this demanding work, and she found deep fulfillment in caring for her patients.

From a young age, Leigh enjoyed playing softball and basketball. She had a lifelong love for classic rock and roll, particularly AC/DC and Aerosmith, and found joy in cross-stitching, making pillows, and caring for her beloved animals. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family, especially doting on her grandson. Even as she courageously faced pancreatic cancer, Leigh remained strong, handling her illness with remarkable grace and faith.

She is survived by her parents, Ellis August Macijewski and Joan Messick Macijewski; her children, Jacob August Wilson and Jenna Leigh Wilson, both of Conover; her grandson, Benjamin Vassil of Conover; and her sister, Susan Macijewski Suddreth of Bethlehem.
