Leland “Lee” Barry Lucas, 75, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 26, 1950, in West Hamlin, West Virginia, to the late Billy James Lucas and Dolly Atkins Lucas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings.
Lee is survived by his loving and devoted wife of more than 55 years, Jo E. Lucas; two sons, Bryan Lee Lucas and Billy Joe Lucas, both of Flatwoods; two sisters, Betty Jordan and Mauna Faye Dingess; seven grandchildren, Cody Lee Lucas, Kyle Andrew Lucas, Kayla Brown, Sean Reed Lucas, Elexus Lucas, Dylan McKenzie Lucas, and Chelsey Lucas; nine great-grandchildren, Liam, Oliva, James, Ronnie, Kamy, Ezra, Easton, Elani, and Elias; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
For 30 years, Lee worked as a millwright electrician at AK Steel in Middletown, Ohio. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, he took great pride in providing for his family through dedication and long hours. A true jack of all trades, he was the person others turned to for help fixing, building, or solving problems, whether working on cars, tackling carpentry projects, or creating something in his shop.
Lee never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He found deep joy in fishing and hunting, cherished local history, and loved sharing stories about the legends of Tecumseh and The Blue Jacket. His curiosity, easygoing nature, and storytelling left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love of the outdoors, and the many friendships he formed throughout his life.
