Lee Jean Marks
Passed March 9, 2026
Red Lion, PA
Leslie “Lee” Jean Marks entered into rest at her home in Red Lion on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the age of 65. She was the loving partner of Susan P. Nechamkin for 20 years.
Lee was born on February 22, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Berle Marks and the stepdaughter of Rosemary Hines. She was raised in Baltimore, where she also started her own family. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Marks Orthman (Brian Orthman), and her beloved grandchild, Jace Magsamen.
A creative and compassionate soul, Lee loved the outdoors and spent many peaceful hours fishing. She found joy in her workshop, building birdhouses, flower planters, and other handmade treasures. A devoted animal lover, she cared deeply for the many animals in her life and dreamed of one day opening an animal sanctuary that would be a safe haven for wild and domestic animals in need of love, care, and a home.
Lee’s generous heart, creative spirit, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many animals whose lives she touched. A memorial service in her honor will be held at a later date in Baltimore, Maryland, and all who knew and loved Lee are welcome to attend. Wagner-Elfner and Burg Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to the York County SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA 17406 or to The Feline Rescue Association, Inc., 10999 Red Run Blvd, Ste 205, Box #296, Owings Mills, MD 21117.
