Leah Reed Henry

Leah Reed Henry, of Chesapeake, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Virginia Beach, Virginia, to Anne Henry (née Jackson) and William Robert Henry, she was preceded in death by both of her parents.

Leah dedicated her life to public service. She spent many years working for Portsmouth Social Services and volunteered extensively with the Virginia State Police, Chesapeake Regional Hospital, and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. She found deep fulfillment in helping others and touched many lives through her quiet commitment and care.

She is survived by her brother, William R. Henry, Jr., her niece, Denise J. Mullen, her great-niece, Morrigan Mullen, and her life partner of 20 years, Alan R. Baumann, along with their extended family of many children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Grandma Leah,” she was deeply loved by her family and will be dearly missed by all, including her three cats.
