Layne Gilpin

Layne Gilpin, 71, of Delmar, New York, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Shaker Place Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Colonie, New York. Born on April 27, 1954, in Plattsburgh, New York, she was the daughter of Roberta Morris Gilpin and the late Scott Gilpin.

Layne enjoyed a long career with Ulster County DSS before retiring from New York State, where she worked as an Information Technology Specialist. She was known for her dedication and quiet competence, leaving a lasting impression on those who worked alongside her.

She is survived by her mother, Roberta Morris Gilpin; her daughter, Lara Doyle (Steve) of Cornwall, New York; her siblings, Twyla Smith (John) of Kansas City, Missouri, Heidi Fuchs (Al) of Delmar, New York, Sean Gilpin (Carol) of Tilson, New York, Petra Bach (Bill) of Saugerties, New York, and Bryn Gilpin of Salinas, California; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and members of the extended Gilpin and Doyle families.

Cremation services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory to the Saugerties Animal Shelter or News 10 - Steve Caporizzo's Pet Connection.
