Lawrence Roger "Larry" Pierce

Lawrence Roger "Larry" Pierce

September 20, 1959 March 15, 2026

Galion, OH

Lawrence Roger Pierce, known affectionately as Larry, passed peacefully at his home in Galion on March 15, 2026, at the age of 66, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Columbus on September 20, 1959, to Donald and Regina Pierce, Larry answered the call to serve his country after high school by joining the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne. He later built a career as an HVAC technician, most recently with Atlas Butler. A dedicated worker, Larry had a natural gift for brightening the days of those around him with his warm smile.

In his free time, he found deep satisfaction in woodworking, creating beautiful pieces with his hands. Yet nothing brought him greater joy than time spent with his family. He was a beloved father whose children always regarded him as the very best dad, and he took immense pride and delight in playing with his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife, Christine “Chris” Pierce of Galion, whom he married on March 2, 2009; his children, Joshua (Angel) Welsh of Caledonia, Bill (Melissa) Pierce of Fostoria, Dustin (June) Welsh of Marion, Kerri (Carl Briggs) Vaughn of Crestline, and Aaron (Catharine) Lear of New Washington; his siblings, Sharon O’Neil, Steven Pierce, Michael Pierce, and Bev Stewart, all of Sunbury, and Lora Stewart of Virginia; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Linda Jackson and Johann Hoffman.
