Severn, MD

Lawrence Lyndon Loughry, a cherished resident of Severn, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Baltimore Washington Medical Center. He was 83 years old. Born on January 4, 1943, in Manheim, West Virginia, Lawrence was the beloved son of the late Lawrence Loughry and Mamie (nee McVicker) Loughry.

Lawrence's life was marked by exceptional service and dedication. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he honorably served for eight years on active duty and continued to serve in the Reserves for an additional twelve years. Following his military career, he devoted twenty years to protecting his community as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department. His commitment to serving others did not end there; after retiring from law enforcement, Lawrence worked for twelve years in the Fraud and Arson Division at All State, where his diligence saved the company over one million dollars.

A man of great warmth and generosity, Lawrence was known for his ability to engage with anyone he met, often striking up conversations with perfect strangers. He had a heart that would offer his shirt to those in need, reflecting his ever-caring nature. His passion extended to his church, where he spent time cutting the grass and enjoying camaraderie with the clergy over a beer or two. Lawrence also found joy in bowling twice a week, where he showcased his considerable skill.

Above all, Lawrence valued his family deeply, and they were his pride and joy. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Loughry, with whom he shared 64 years of marriage this July. Lawrence is also survived by two beloved sons, Dave and Joseph Loughry; a kind brother, Charles Loughry; a devoted sister, Sheila Black; caring sisters-in-law, Mary Kay Kepfer and Rita Deluzio (Vince); a devoted brother-in-law, Timothy Schemp; as well as seven adorable grandchildren, Jason, David, Thomas, Marissa, Caitlyn, Leah, and Hannah; and five cherished great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Hayes, David, Madison, and Lola. Lawrence is preceded in death  by his sister, Darlene Fogel.

The family will receive friends at the Donaldson Funeral Home & Crematory, P. A. on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 1 PM to 3 PM and again from 6 PM to 8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Parish, located at 7850 Parkside Boulevard, Hanover, MD. Following the mass, Lawrence will be interred with military honors at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at 11:30 AM.

Lawrence Lyndon Loughry leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and dedication to family that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
