Lawrence Chigi Sr.

Lawrence J. Chigi Sr., 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Born on November 28, 1945, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he grew up in the area and spent much of his life in Bound Brook, Somerset, and Bridgewater, where he built a life centered on hard work and family.

A dedicated truck driver for most of his career, Lawrence was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. In his later working years, he proudly drove a recycling truck for Somerset County, quietly contributing to his community in a practical, hands-on way. In his younger days, he embraced adventure through scuba diving and as an active member of black powder gun clubs, finding joy in the thrill and camaraderie those pursuits offered.

Above all, Lawrence was remembered for his upbeat, irreverent sense of humor that could lighten any room. Even as Alzheimer’s gradually dimmed his memories, the warmth and spirit he shared with those closest to him remained unforgettable. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Chigi, his son, Lawrence Chigi Jr., and his extended family and friends who were touched by his life. He was predeceased by his father, George Chigi Sr., and his mother, Elsie Chigi.
