Lawrence A. Doyle

Joliet, IL

Lawrence Andrew “Larry” Doyle, age 87, of Joliet, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Lakewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Plainfield, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on February 27, 1939, in Chicago, Larry was the son of William and Mary (Bodzioch) Doyle. A graduate of Harrison High School, he continued his education through night classes at DePaul University. He worked for many years as a foreman with the Village of Bellwood Street Department, retiring after a long and dedicated career.

Known for his generosity and willingness to help anyone in need, he possessed a heart of gold. An avid golfer, he took great pride in his hole-in-one and remained a loyal fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. He also cherished time spent with animals, especially his beloved dogs.

Larry was a proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous, celebrating 40 years of sobriety and serving as a sponsor and mentor to many in recovery, freely sharing his experience, strength, and hope. He left a profound impact on his family, his fellowship, and his community, and his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Alice M.
