Laurie Hill Sloan

November 22, 1957 March 13, 2026

Paoli, OK

Laurie Hill Sloan, age 68, of Paoli, Oklahoma, passed away on March 13, 2026 in Norman, Oklahoma. Born on November 22, 1957, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Joseph Hill and Lily Laverne (Johnson) Hill, she grew up in Catoosa, where she graduated from Catoosa Public Schools in 1976. An active student, Laurie played clarinet in the marching band, sang, and played piano. She devoted much of her youth to caring for her family during her mother’s health struggles.

Laurie attended the University of Oklahoma for two years and later earned an associate degree in Paralegal Studies from Rose State College. At age 27 she began her career with the United States Postal Service, serving with dedication for nearly four decades. She retired as Postmaster of Pauls Valley on December 31, 2024. Her commitment was such that she occasionally brought her young son Joshua to work with her. A longtime resident of the area, she was a faithful member of Paoli First Baptist Church and served on the Paoli School Board.

She held a deep passion for genealogy, spending many hours tracing her family’s history. Laurie also cherished traveling, especially cruises and family vacations with her children, Joshua and Taylor. Her greatest joys were her family, her career, and the beloved grand pups and grand kitties that brought her constant delight. She will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, intelligence, and unwavering faith.

Laurie is survived by her son, Joshua Kyle Sloan of the home; daughter, Taylor Lauren Sloan of Maysville, Oklahoma; brothers, Bart Gregory Hill and wife Jessica of Amarillo, Texas, and David Michael Hill of Canada; bonus grandson, Zayn Hill; niece and nephews, Merah Rivers, Reece Hill, and Heath Hill; the father of her children, Chris Sloan; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lily Hill.
