Laurence Miller
March 30, 1947— March 7, 2026
Rockville, MD
Laurence Miller, known affectionately as Larry, was born in March 1947 in California. The oldest of three brothers, he cherished the outdoors throughout his life. His father, a career army officer who served in World War I, World War II, and Korea, instilled in him a deep appreciation for military tradition, and Larry often spoke fondly of the Presidio in San Francisco as his favorite army base.
He graduated from the University of California, Riverside, with a degree in Political Science. Larry dedicated more than 30 years to service with the US Government, retiring in 2005. An avid reader with a particular passion for history, he also found great joy in sailing on the Chesapeake and following baseball.
Larry was deeply loved and admired for his calm, patient, and supportive nature. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Iain; two grandchildren; two brothers; and two nieces. He will be profoundly missed.
