February 18, 1953— March 8, 2026
Hopedale, MA
Laura Martin (Ragonese) Proietti, 73, passed peacefully after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born on February 18, 1953, in Newton, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Angelo and Martha Ragonese of Hopedale. Laura lived a life defined by deep devotion to her family, her faith, and those in need.
A strong defender of her Christian faith, Laura served alongside her husband David for many years. Together they attended Bible College, participated in DYS prison ministry for a decade, supported a homeless ministry for another ten years, and hosted a home church. She spent much of her working life in the restaurant business and later for twelve years with the USPS. From childhood, Laura held a special love for horses and riding, and she found great joy in gardening, bird watching, fishing, and other outdoor pursuits. She also cherished the music of Paul McCartney and the Beatles, with Neil Young a close second.
Above all, Laura was known as the salt of the earth. She met everyone with love, compassion, hope, joy, and words of encouragement. Her deep affection for family and friends was evident to all who knew her, and she was especially drawn to the less fortunate, offering them selfless care and light.
Laura is survived by her devoted husband of 23 years, David Proietti; stepdaughter Ashley Proietti Belsito and granddaughter Alexandra; siblings Marcia Falzone, Peter Ragonese and his wife Laura, Michael and Suzanne Ragonese, and Tommy and Karen Ragonese; along with many nieces and nephews. She will be remembered as a bright light on the hill, a woman whose life exemplified selfless love and faithful service.
