Laura M. Denny

August 2, 1944 March 10, 2026

Oklahoma City, OK

Laura Mavis Wootton Cain, a former resident of Willow, Oklahoma, passed away on March 10, 2026, in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Born on August 2, 1944, in Kerrville, Texas, to George and Dorothy Wootton, she was raised in Willow, where she graduated from Granite High School in 1962.

While in high school, Laura met Rex Cain of Carter, Oklahoma. They married while he served in the United States Air Force and began their life together in Oscoda, Michigan. They were blessed with three children: Joann, Marty, and Patricia. After returning to Oklahoma, Laura settled in Altus, where she focused on raising her family. She later worked for Western Electric manufacturing microchips and then joined CMI in 1971 in the engineering department, helping design and build road construction equipment. In the early 1990s, she attended college in Carrollton, Texas, to study mechanical engineering. She lived for a time in Denton, Texas, before returning to Willow in 1994 to care for her grandmother, Laura Ferguson. While there, she owned and operated the Willow Café, which became a cherished community gathering place known for its warm, home-cooked meals. In her later years, she devoted herself to caring for her mother, Dorothy Wootton, and lived in Oklahoma City to be near her children and grandchildren.

Laura found joy in simple pleasures. She loved playing bingo, visiting the casino, woodworking, gardening, and farming. She had a passion for collecting antiques, glassware, jewelry, and magazines, and she took pride in growing her own vegetables. She was a gifted cook whose fried potatoes, chocolate pies, and carrot cakes were favorites at family gatherings. Above all, she treasured time with her loved ones. Those who knew her remember her as hardworking, kind, generous, and quick to laugh, with a heart that cared deeply for others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Wootton; her sister, Modene Kinniken; her granddaughter, Lauren Williams; her great-granddaughter, Liana Lynn; and the father of her children, Rex Cain. Laura is survived by her children, Joann Miller and Chuck, Trish Williams and Joel, and Marty Cain and Maricel; her brother, GH Wootton and his wife, Judy; her grandchildren, Miranda, Josh, Tanner, Colby, Braden, Natori, Maddie, Ella, Mercedes, Monica, Breanna, Juliet, Cole, Fabian, Marianna, Matilde, Aracely, Nayeli, Cristal, Zoe, Chance, Lyndsey, and Jake; and her great-grandchildren, including Armonni and Mateo.
