Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with arrangements.Laura was born August 25, 1932, in Richardton, North Dakota, the daughter of Edward and Marcellyne (Schatz) Hoffer. Laura grew up on a farm in the Hebron, North Dakota, area. She was proud to say she helped in the harvest activities, including operating haying equipment and driving a grain truck. After graduating from Hebron High School in 1951, she taught in rural elementary schools for three years in the Glen Ullin, North Dakota, area. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Clifford Mindt, while obtaining room and board with his parents. They were married June 3, 1954, in Glen Ullin.Laura and Clifford were blessed with their first child, Mary, in July of 1955. Shortly thereafter they moved to Glendive where Clifford started his more than 20-year career owning and operating Texaco Gas Stations. The Mindt family grew quickly with six more boys joining the very busy household. Later on, the family would occasionally be reminded of all the work involved with cloth diapers and NO microwave oven! Laura's children all gratefully acknowledge the many sacrifices their parents made in order for all them to attend Sacred Heart Elementary School, and they also are thankful for Laura's dedication in regularly taking the family to Sunday Mass.Laura was involved in church activities for many years. These included working as parish secretary, Catholic Daughters, and CCW. She also enjoyed being a member of The Local Women of The Moose, and she spent many hours volunteering at the hospital gift shop.It is no stretch to say Laura was the rock of the Mindt family, and she loved being at home in the warm and caring household she created for her family. She had the softest hands and heart-especially when it came to new additions to the family. The Mindt family wishes to acknowledge the blessing of the care Laura received in her 12 years living at The Heritage as well as her recent friendship with Gladys there. The GMC Extended Care providers' and staff's kindness and care were also greatly appreciated by the family."We certainly miss all about you, Mom, especially your prayers and quiet love!!"Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Clifford Mindt, in 2020; son, James; daughter-in-law, Diane Mindt; brother, Roy Hoffer; and sister, Alice Townsend. She is survived by her daughter, Mary (John) Kouba, Rapid City, SD; son, Vern (Connie) Mindt, Sidney, MT; son, Wayne Mindt, Glendive; son, Dean (Shelly) Mindt of Glendive, MT; son, Kenny (Marie) Mindt of Pasco, WA; her son, Ryan Mindt, Great Falls, MT; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at www.SilhaFuneralHomes.com.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
