Pagosa Springs, CO

Laura Elguezabal-Hickman of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026, in Durango, Colorado. Born in Boise, Idaho, her adventurous spirit carried her to Alaska and Louisiana before she made her home in Pagosa Springs in 2007. Wherever life took her, Laura’s trademark warmth and genuine kindness followed, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

In Pagosa Springs, she became a beloved member of the community, caring for animals at Elk Park Animal Hospital, welcoming travelers at the San Juan Motel, and generously helping residents and visitors alike through her work with Pagosa Cab. Her bright smile and open heart drew people in, and she touched countless lives through her quiet generosity and willingness to lend a hand.

Laura will be remembered above all for the deep love she shared with her children, the joy she found in her grandchildren, and the devoted companionship she shared with the dogs and horses she cherished. She is survived by her sons, Leikos Grames and Colton Hickman; her grandchildren, Zane, Ella, and Enzo Grames; her brothers, Tony Elguezabal and AJ Crow; her stepfather, Kenny Crow; her longtime companion, Garry Scoggins; and a wide circle of nieces, cousins, aunts, and friends who will carry her memory forward.

Her caring nature, generosity of spirit, and unconditional love created ripples throughout her community and family that will continue to be felt for years to come.
