He served his country as a proud veteran of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, an experience he carried with honor throughout his life. For 35 years, Larry worked as a machinist for Unocal/Conoco-Phillips, where his commitment to precision and detail shaped both his professional work and his personal endeavors. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Astros and the Cowboys, finding joy in sharing games with those he loved. In his quieter moments, Larry expressed his creativity through woodworking, crafting pieces that reflected his careful hands and artistic spirit.
Larry is survived by his wife of sixty years, Linda McElroy; his son, David McElroy and wife Lesli; his daughter, Susan McElroy and her partner Jason Ross; and his cherished grandchildren, Mallori McElroy and Abbie McElroy and her fiancé Travis Crow. He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon Jones and husband Kenneth, Joy Fontenot, and sister-in-law Judy Manuel and husband Carol. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Wendell and Fay Lucille McElroy, his son Craig McElroy, and brother-in-law Donald Fontenot.
Larry Wayne McElroy will be remembered for his love of family and the quiet pride he took in serving his country. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion that will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.
