Larry "Bubba" Wayne Anthony

October 25, 1940 March 13, 2026

Phenix City, AL

Larry “Bubba” Wayne Anthony, 85, of Phenix City, Alabama, died at the home of his brother in Hoover, Alabama, on Friday, March 13, 2026.

Born on October 25, 1940, in Phenix City, Bubba was the son of the late Rev. Mark Wilson Anthony and Aeoline Little Anthony. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served his country while stationed in France, Spain, and Germany. Those years abroad sparked a lifelong love of travel as he explored the sights and cultures of Europe.

Bubba was a longtime member of Hillside United Methodist Church, where he found great joy singing in the choir. He retired from Auburn University, where he worked in the computer department. His time at Auburn made him a devoted Tiger fan, even though he was a graduate of the University of West Alabama in Livingston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; aunts Martha Nell Johnston, Betty L. Idland, and Helen Foate; uncles Terry M. Little, Herman T. Little, Thomas M. Little, Uriah Little, and Trammel Little; and cousins Betty Lou Idland and Thomas A. Idland. He is survived by his brother, Terry Mark Anthony of Hoover, Alabama; special cousins Roger Idland of Hoover, Allyson Maddox (Shane) of Hoover, Jenelle Andrews (Jimmy) of Mountain Brook, Jean Companion (Ronnie) of Phenix City, Debbie Melton (Mike) of Buena Vista, Georgia, Mike Companion (Sherri) of Mobile, and Jim Anthony (JoAnne) of Columbus, Georgia; and many other loving family members and friends.
