Larry V. Foster

Larry V. Foster

January 10, 1945 March 15, 2026

Anderson, IN

Larry V. Foster, 81, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away on March 15, 2026. Born on January 10, 1945, in Orestes, Indiana, to Dick and Eva Foster, Larry graduated from Alexandria Monroe High School in 1963. An outstanding varsity athlete, he earned multiple letters in football and basketball and, in his senior year, was part of the starting five on the team that captured the Anderson sectional title in memorable fashion—a moment he cherished throughout his life.

After high school, Larry began a skilled-trades apprenticeship in machine repair at GM’s Guide Lamp Division in Anderson. He went on to work for General Motors at both Guide Lamp and the GM Metal Center in Marion, completing 50 years of service before retiring in 2013, a personal goal he set and proudly achieved.

Larry’s deep love of sports shaped much of his life. He coached youth teams when his sons Aaron and Derek were young and remained a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears and Indiana University. A longtime Bears season ticket holder, he also traveled to New Orleans to watch the Hoosiers win the 1987 NCAA basketball championship and later took great joy in IU’s football national title.

He shared many happy years with his wife of nearly 43 years, Ann Todd Foster. Together they enjoyed road trips in Larry’s cherished Corvette convertibles and spent several winters in Florida, where they savored beach sunsets, good meals, and time with family and friends.

Larry is survived by his wife, Ann Todd Foster of Anderson; sons Aaron Foster of Anderson and Derek Foster of Tacoma, Washington; stepson Rob Smith (Jan Lesniak) of Indianapolis; sister Jane Foster Stanley of Alexandria; the mother of his sons, Susie Lacy of Chesterfield; grandchildren Alexus Anne Foster and Donovan Prescott Foster of Tacoma, and Jacqueline Genevieve Foster of Upland, California; along with several nieces, nephews, and dear friends Matt and Vicki Covington of Frankton, who were like family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bill Foster.
