Larry Sanne ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Home for Funerals Chapel - Georgia Ave. on Mar. 17, 2026.Funeral services for Larry "Joe" Sanne, age 89, of Beatrice, formerly of Norfolk, Nebraska will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Reverend Bridget Gately will officiate, with entombment in the mausoleum at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery.Military honors will be conducted by Air Force Honor Guard, American Legion Post 16, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644.Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the chapel.Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.He passed away Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Beatrice Health and Rehabilitation Center in Beatrice, Nebraska.Larry "Joe" Sanne was born February 19, 1937, in Meadow Grove, Nebraska to Leonard and Hazel (Anderson) Sanne. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Meadow Grove.In 1954, Larry graduated from Meadow Grove High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving from 1954 until 1958. He served one year in Korea, and later served in the Air Force Reserve, Air Force National Guard, and the Army Reserve until 1980.In 1957, Larry married Nancy Falconer at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Meadow Grove. Over the years, the family lived in Omaha, Meadow Grove, Humphrey, Wayne, and Norfolk as Larry worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads for 40 years. He retired as a project manager in 2000.Larry enjoyed fishing, camping, and sports. He was a member of the Norfolk United Methodist Church, D.A.V. Chapter 8, and American Legion Post 16 in Norfolk.He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Jeff) Rechtenbaugh of Hartford, SD; son, Rick (Deb) Sanne of Beatrice, NE; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Donna Rae Sanne of Omaha; and three stepbrothers, Terry, Tom, and Lynn Sanne.Larry was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years in 2008; his parents; and brother, Stanley.Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.homeforfuneralsinc.com.To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Larry "Joe" Sanne, please visit our floral store.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
