May 30, 1942— March 7, 2026
Swartz Creek, MI
Larry Lee Manchester, 83, formerly of Swartz Creek, Michigan, passed away after a prolonged illness on March 6, 2026, in Phoenix, Arizona. Born on May 30, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, to Lawrence and Jeanette Manchester, he graduated from Flint Southwestern in 1960. A proud veteran of the United States Army, Larry married the love of his life, Patricia Temples, on October 12, 1966.
He retired from General Motors in 2006 after 38 years as a Journeyman Tool Cutter Grinder at the Chevrolet V-8 Engine plant. He also served as a licensed substance abuse counselor for his fellow GM employees. Larry cherished his family and the outdoors, finding joy as an avid hunter, fisherman, and rock collector. He devoted many years to coaching his sons’ ice hockey teams, including the Swartz Creek High School team, and built an outdoor rink in his backyard each year that became a neighborhood favorite.
After retirement, he and Patricia spent their winters in Salome, Arizona, where they made many friends and enjoyed driving their side-by-side through the surrounding mountains. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers David and Jimmy Manchester. He is survived by his wife Patricia; sons Aaron (Julie Ann) and Christopher (Gretchen); grandchildren Francis, Owen, Emmie, Dylan, and Nora Manchester; step-grandchildren Brandon (Hannah) and Brittney Johnson; his sister Jean Ann Bundschuh; several in-laws; and many nieces and nephews.
