May 9, 1945— March 7, 2026
Morehead City, NC
Larry Martin Land of Morehead City passed away gently on March 7, 2026. A larger-than-life presence with a sharp mind and an enormous heart, Larry lived life with boundless energy, kindness, and an unyielding love for every moment. He approached each day with relentless drive, viewing rest as optional and only yielding when God called him home.
Born and raised in Gaston County, North Carolina, Larry rose from humble beginnings to become a successful businessman and entrepreneur. His deep love of the water eventually drew him to Carteret County, where he embraced a life filled with boating adventures, whether short day trips or longer journeys to the islands. His generosity was profound and often deeply personal. He volunteered for many causes, with a special devotion to The Salvation Army. Larry was a gifted storyteller whose tales, though they sometimes seemed exaggerated to new listeners, were almost always true. His faith in God and love of country remained steadfast throughout his life, and he closed his prayers with the same heartfelt words: “Bless this family, Bless this Country, bless the troops.”
He is survived by his wife, Lynette Land of Morehead City; two daughters, Catherine Land of Greenville and Mary-Taylor Land of Garner; and grandson Landon Wilkins of Garner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Annie Mae Land, and his brother, Bobby Land.
