Preserve forever →Larry Kenneth Nyberg
September 18, 1954— March 13, 2026
Ingleside on the Bay, TX
Larry was born in Duluth, Minnesota on September 18th 1954 of parents Betty and Kenneth. He died peacefully at his home with his family and friend, Harley.
Larry is preceded in death by his mom, Betty Lou Nyberg.
He is survived by his wife Ann; son, Lars (Vanessa); daughter, Lennea Jenkins (Eddie); grandkids: Harbor Ann, Berkley Diane, Tony, Evan & Jack; brother Bob (Ann); Nephew Chad (Kim); great-nephews, Grant & Blake.
He grew up in Two Harbors, Minnesota, enjoying all the boy things a small town can offer. He played hockey through his senior year in high school and was their co-captain of his beloved Agates. Larry & Ann met at St. Cloud State University and both graduated in 1977 – he received a degree in Geography. After Larry married Ann on August 6th 1977, they packed up all their wedding gifts and moved to Port Isabel, TX (a place they picked out on a map!). During his career as a manufacturing manager, he helped build computer parts, the first “pay at the pump” and Peterbilt trucks. During his 48 years of marriage, he moved his family to several cities in TX. Larry was very active in his kid's lives: soccer coach, t-ball coach & general supporter of all Ann got them involved in.
Larry is known for hosting many parties: ghost telling camp fires in Georgetown, Walk to the Goose in Plano & most recently Cinco de Mayo in Ingleside on the Bay. Perhaps one of his memorable things is his love of making homemade pizza including all the sauces and dough! Larry was very physically active all his life even after a hit & run accident in 2007. He finished several triathlons, 2 mile open water swim including going to Gold’s Gym twice a day in Plano to swim, lift weights and spin class. It was not uncommon to see him out on his bike riding around Ingleside on the Bay. Larry also loved his dogs – always super attentive to their wants & needs – never far out of his sight. He had many names over the years: Boats, Coon Nyberg, Whoshcow, Gentle Giant, Sweetie, Dad, Pops & Papa. Oh Larry so many memories: sail boating, scuba diving, those crazy camping trips to the Guadalupe, high school reunions and your funny Christmas letters. Larry you were blessed with a great family and SO many friends….you will be missed!
The visitation for Larry will be held at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass, TX on Friday, March 20 at 1pm, with a Memorial Service immediately following at 2pm.
