Larry Keith Lingerfelt

December 23, 1948 March 9, 2026

Gastonia, NC

Larry Keith Lingerfelt, a dedicated law enforcement officer and cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026, surrounded by family at the home of his daughter. Born on December 23, 1948, Larry served with distinction in the cities of Dallas, Belmont, and Lowell before retiring. He approached his work with a deep sense of duty and earned the lasting respect of his colleagues.

Beyond his career, Larry remained actively involved in the community as a member of Landmark Baptist Church and the Lowell Masonic Lodge. Those who knew him best remember his vibrant personality and his gift for bringing laughter to any room. A big jokester at heart, he found joy in simple pleasures such as dining out and working on small engines. Above all, he took tremendous pride in his family, viewing them as his greatest accomplishment.

Larry is survived by his children, Gary Keith Lingerfelt (Chrystal) and Beverly Lingerfelt Gentry (Joe); grandchildren Andrew Bolding, Matthew Bolding, Joseph Gentry, Kayla Moss, Christopher Lingerfelt, and Stephanie Mayberry; great-grandchildren Alanna Bolding, Jaxon Bolding, and Bailey Price; his brother O’Neil Lingerfelt; and sisters Judy Welch and Gail McPeters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Clyde Lingerfelt and Berniece Rimmer Lingerfelt; his wife of 48 years, Beverly Gail Byrd Lingerfelt; and his siblings A.C., James, Cecil Lingerfelt and Audrey Pullen.
