Larry John Shoudel, age 87, of Rochester, passed away on March 12, 2026, at The Carriages in Rochester, Illinois.

Born on August 19, 1938, in Hamilton, Indiana, Larry was the son of John William and Marie LaVerne (Kepler) Shoudel. He married Mary Alice on July 24, 1960; she preceded him in death on April 7, 2025. Larry began his career as a civil engineer with the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1961 and retired from the agency in 1991. He was an avid golfer, a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan, and a lifelong enthusiast of card games. He cherished traveling with his wife and friends, especially his closest companions, Clark and Kay McKee. In 1977 he joined the Rochester Lions Club, an organization that brought him great pride as his sons later joined him in its charitable work.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, his daughter Lynne, and his sister Carol.

He is survived by his sons, Dr. John (Maggie) Shoudel and David (Angela) Shoudel; his beloved grandchildren, Celine Shoudel, Keeley Shoudel, and Dalton Felber; his niece Tracy (Daniel) Schnorr; and his nephew Todd (Lisa) Johnson. He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.
