Larry Gene Scales

Larry Gene Scales, age 85, of Pacolet, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. Born on May 26, 1940, in Pacolet, he was the son of the late Eugene Claude Scales and Lucile Martin Scales. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Keith Louis Scales.

Larry lived a life centered on his faith, his family, and his love for his country. He graduated from Pacolet High School, attended Spartanburg Methodist College, and proudly served in the United States Air Force. A faithful member of Northbrook Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, he was known for his kind heart, strong faith, and the deep love he held for his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Brown Scales; his brother, Kenneth Wayne Scales (Katherine) of Pacolet, and their children Michael and Vickie. He is also survived by Joseph Robert Scales (Sharon) of Boiling Springs, Sherry Goodwin (Randy) of Spartanburg, Glenda Warner (Charles) of Spartanburg, and Sonya Edwards (Mark) of Spartanburg. His grandchildren include Colby Robert Scales (Megan), Clayton William Scales, Jennifer Carter (Tim), Halie Avendano (Alex), Chelsie Wood (Tom), Matthew Graham (Emory), Benjamin Edwards (Sarah), Nicholas Edwards (La'el), and Michelle Lipsey (Kyle). He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Michael Tanner Lipsey, Kaylee, Gabriel, Eli, Maylen, and Ellasen.

Larry will be remembered for his kind heart, his strong faith, and the love he had for his family. His memory will be treasured by all who knew him.
