Larry Don Connell

Larry Don Connell, age 80, of Fulton, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Diversicare of Martin. Born on October 29, 1945, in Martin, Tennessee, to the late Charlie Bell Connell and Maggie Norene Carlton Connell, Larry spent his entire life in the West Kentucky and West Tennessee area. A man of Baptist faith, he was known for his kind heart and the joy he brought to his community.

Together with his late wife, Janice, Larry owned and operated the Dixieland Delight Ice Cream Truck. For many years, the cheerful sound of the Ice Cream Truck Song echoed through neighborhoods during hot summer days, delighting children and adults alike across West Kentucky and West Tennessee. The couple took genuine pleasure in the smiles they helped create.

Larry is survived by his daughter, Susan Finch of Union City, Tennessee, ten grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Baxter Connell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Rothman Connell, who passed away on July 15, 2025, two daughters, Donna Dean and Cathy Hazlewood, two brothers, Thomas Carlton Connell and James Harold Connell, and three sisters, Margaret Connell Sanford, Bonnie Ruth Connell Cruce, and Marjorie Connell.
