May 1, 1946— March 6, 2026
Ogden, UT
Larry Del Brown, affectionately known to all as “LB,” passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026, while traveling home from a memorable cruise with his sweetheart, Pat. Larry lived a life full of service, rhythm, laughter, and adventure.
Born on May 1, 1946, in Seattle, Washington, to Ferryl and Jack Brown, Larry grew up in the Pacific Northwest. He answered the call to serve his country, joining the Army and completing basic training in Georgia before being transferred to Alaska. This began a proud 20-year military career that spanned the Army, Colorado Air National Guard, Air Force Reserves, and Utah Air National Guard Reserves.
Larry’s professional life was closely tied to his love for bowling. He managed several bowling centers, first in Washington and later in Colorado with the Brunswick Corporation. While working at Circle Lanes in Colorado Springs, he met Patricia Collins. He asked her out on his birthday, and after ten years of dating, they married on December 3, 1988. Their nearly 40-year partnership was filled with lifelong friends, bowling tournaments, and vacations across the country. An exceptionally talented bowler, Larry achieved several 700 series and a perfect 300 game.
In 1996, Larry and Pat moved to Utah, where he worked as an implementation manager and trainer for Mortgage Computer. This role took him across the country and deepened his passion for travel, especially cruising, which he and Pat continued to enjoy throughout his retirement. Music remained the heartbeat of his life. A gifted guitarist who loved all genres except rap, he formed the band “Ridge Runners” in Colorado Springs, performing at hayrides, bars, and weddings. He served as a musician at Holy Apostles Catholic Church in Colorado for 15 years and then at St. James Catholic Church in Ogden for more than 25 years before becoming a member of Holy Family Catholic parish in Ogden. He drew constant inspiration from his musical idols, including Tommy Emmanuel, Chet Atkins, Billy Strings, Jake Workmen, and Joe Robinson.
LB was the life of the party—a man of endless jokes, stories, and a genuine warmth that made everyone feel welcome. A devoted “12th Man,” he was among the very first Seattle Seahawks season ticket holders and rejoiced in their championship win this year. At home, he was a master of the grill and smoker, renowned for his custom seasonings, prime rib, salmon, ribeyes, ribs, pizza, and burritos. A connoisseur of beer and wine, he crafted his own and introduced many friends to the hobby. He took great pride in his bar and in having visited more than 390 microbreweries across the country with Pat as his chauffeur. He was also a highly skilled pool player who could run the table with the best of them.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his stepbrother, Stanley Brown. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; his daughters, Laura (Bob) Harding and Monica (Steve) Spence; and his two grandchildren, Alana (Austin) Benson and Braven Spence, all of whom will deeply miss his music, stories, and laughter.
