Larry Alan

September 26, 1951 March 14, 2026

Tolland, CT

Larry Alan, known lovingly to many as “Lachlan” or “Papa”, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026, at the age of 74 in Tolland, CT.

Born on September 26, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Larry lived a full and vibrant life that touched everyone lucky enough to know him. Larry married Cindi and together they built a home filled with laughter, music, and hospitality. He is survived by his loving wife, Cindi and daughter Dana, her husband Gregory and their sons Samuel and Wesley; son Eric and his wife Sarah; and his sisters Shirley (Joseph); Patricia (Monte); Diane (Butch); and Gloria (Rocky).

Larry graduated from Pace University School of Law and went on to build a distinguished career at Nationwide, where he worked for over 24 years. Colleagues remember him for his steady professionalism, thoughtful counsel, and the warm, approachable manner that put others at ease.

Outside of work and family, Larry pursued many passions. An avid golfer, he fondly remembered rounds at St. Andrews in Scotland as among his happiest experiences. He enjoyed birdwatching and the quiet patience it required, tended to his farm animals with care, and collected and studied U.S. historical flags. Irish music was a steady soundtrack in his life, its melodies reflecting his pride in heritage and love of storytelling. Larry was famous for his jokes, his quick wit, and a generosity of spirit that made everyone around him feel welcome.

Larry’s legacy is one of love, humor, and commitment. He will be remembered for the warmth of his presence, his readiness to share a laugh, and his steady support and love for his family, especially his grandsons. A celebration of life will be held at a later date; details will be provided when arrangements have been finalized.
