Larney E. Mercer

Larney E. Mercer of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, was born on October 10, 1940, in Fairmont, West Virginia, and passed away on March 11, 2026, in Florence, Kentucky, at the age of 85. Son of the late Larney Edward and Eleanor Timms Mercer, he worked as a machinist with the US Shoe Company in Flemingsburg and later retired from Gusher Pumps in Dry Ridge. A longtime member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Larney was a two-time Kentucky State Archery Champion who cherished NFL football and devoted countless hours to restoring classic cars and trucks.
On August 25, 1963, he married Barbara Ann Jones, beginning a loving union that lasted 62 years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Mercer of Dry Ridge; his son, Scott (Jennifer) Mercer of Williamstown; his daughter, Tammy (Jeff) Caudill of Dry Ridge; seven grandchildren, Justin (Shayna) Muse, Cheyenne (Eric) Pinales, Brandon (Vada) Mercer, Courtney (Kalin) Clifton, Cory Clifton, Jeffrey (Lilly) Caudill, and Javen Caudill; seven great-grandchildren, Jace, Jackson, Omo, Cattleya, Allicia, Vada, and Sierra; his brother, Jimmy Mercer of West Virginia; and his sister, Diane Mercer of West Virginia.
Larney’s quiet strength, steady presence, and deep love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
