August 16, 1956— March 6, 2026
Salem, MO
Lanny Verl Wallis was born on August 16, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Lawrence and Trucella (Nash) Wallis, affectionately known as Larry and Trudy. He grew up in Jerseyville, Illinois, graduating from Jerseyville High School in 1974 before continuing his studies at Lewis and Clark Community College.
Lanny proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later in the Army National Guard, carrying a deep sense of honor in that service throughout his life. A true jack of all trades, he worked in many fields and was always known for his willingness to lend a helping hand. He was engaged to Vaunda Richardson and looked forward to the life they were building together. He cherished time spent with her son, Louis, and granddaughter, Jolie, and shared a special bond with his cousins and extended family.
Lanny loved the outdoors, country drives, and visits to Relphe Springs with his beloved dog, Bolt, who was his constant companion. Music was one of his greatest passions. He especially loved Southern Gospel and Bluegrass, played several instruments with particular skill on the guitar, and found deep joy in making music. Baptized on September 11, 1966, at Healing Waters Temple, his faith remained important to him.
Lanny passed away on March 6, 2026, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine. He is survived by his fiancée, Vaunda Richardson of Edgar Springs, Missouri; future stepson, Louis Richardson and his fiancée Sara of Bentonville, Arkansas; future granddaughter, Jolie Richardson; sister, Pamela Wallis; nephew, Issac Wallis; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Trudy Wallis.
He will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for music, his hardworking spirit, and the many friendships he formed. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
