Kyle E. Karpe, 53, of Lubbock, was lifted into heaven to join his parents on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Kyle was born on February 8, 1973, in Abilene, Taylor County, Texas to the late Dale H. Karpe and Carol (O’Connell) Sherrill.

Kyle attended Frenship High School, graduating with his senior class in 1991. He attended West Texas State University and continued to Texas Tech University where he excelled in debate. Kyle has won several state championships in a number of events. He was a quarter finalist at the National Parliamentary Debate Association’s national tournament. He was also a semi-finalist in Extemporaneous Speaking at the National Individual Events Tournament.

Kyle loved to read books of all kinds, and watching movies of all kinds. He was very close knit with his family and friends, his nephews and great nephews. He thoroughly loved and enjoyed his fur babies, Molly and Hoosvie.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his sister, Kelly Morrison (Craig); his best friend, Scott Kohnhorst; two nephews: Michael Morrison (Caitlyn) and Jordan Morrison (Sydnei); five great nephews: Sean, Matthew, Hutson, Walker and Hunter; cousin, Robert O’Connell (Delilah); and of special note, his two fur babies: Molly and Hoosvie. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with Randall Herrerra from Hospice of Lubbock as the officiant. Memorial services and cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of the customary remembrance of flowers, the family encourages you to donate to Hospice of Lubbock, 3702 21st Street, Lubbock, Texas 79410.

Kyle's family would like to thank the staff of Whispherwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for all the loving care, support and comfort they provided Kyle throughout his stay there.
