Kristie Clayton

Kristie Clayton, 48, of Dike, Texas, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Christus Mother Frances in Sulphur Springs. Born on December 30, 1977, in Greenville, Texas, to the late William Jasper and Virginia Mae Clayton, she was a devoted mother and homemaker who also worked in the service industry.

Kristie carried herself with quiet strength and resilience, much like the sunflowers she loved long before they became popular. She stood through many storms, always reaching for the light, and faced life’s hardships with deep love for those around her. A true friend to everyone she met, she cherished her role as MawMaw over the past nine years and found joy in simple things—daily lunch-break video calls with Chris, watching Wheel of Fortune, and spending time outdoors. She remained just a phone call away for anyone who needed an open ear and a caring heart.

She is survived by her husband, Chris Degen; children, Jaycee Halbert Tice, Hailey Halbert, and Corey O’Grady; grandchildren, Tatum Tice, Piper Tice, Olivia Tice, and Brittlee Halbert; brother Wayne Melton and wife Megan; and sisters Lyndi Huggins and husband Eric, Stacie Clayton Strebeck, Shirley Kilpatrick and husband Rick, Cheryl Wallis and husband Ron, and Debbie Greenhill.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Sharon Bostick; and brothers Larry Wilson and Lester Wilson.
