Kris Patrick Frieden, 61, of Wabash, Indiana, passed away at his home on March 13, 2026. He was born on July 6, 1964, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Leo and Beverly (Buckingham) Frieden.
A 1983 graduate of Manchester High School, Kris excelled as a multi-sport athlete and still holds the school record for the longest field goal at 51 yards. He earned a full scholarship to play football at Defiance College before transferring to Ball State University, where he graduated and served as president of his fraternity. Kris went on to work in conservation at Huntington Reservoir, as well as at HI Grade Egg, Sunnyside, and Manchester Foundry. He remained an avid outdoorsman throughout his life, finding great joy in hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his father, Leo Frieden of North Manchester; two daughters, Niki (Tyler Stump) Frieden of Plymouth, Indiana, and Taylor (Allen Hunt, Jr.) Frieden of Defuniak Springs, Florida; a grandson, Braxten Stump; his sister, Kelly DeeAnn (Daniel) Church; and his niece, Sam Church, and nephew, Timothy Leo Church, all of White House, Tennessee. Kris was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly Frieden.
