Kirk Alan Reemsnyder

Kirk Alan Reemsnyder passed away at the age of 33 on March 5, 2026. He is survived by his parents, Mark and Cindy Reemsnyder, his sister Alana, and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He resided with his parents and his Aunt Vickie, and was supported over the years by numerous dedicated caregivers whose care deeply enriched his life.

Born prematurely on August 22, 1992, Kirk suffered a near-SIDS episode at two days old that resulted in Spastic Quad Athetoid Cerebral Palsy. Baptized, confirmed, and receiving his First Communion at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, he continued to attend Mass there with his family throughout his life. Though wheelchair-bound and non-verbal, he remained actively engaged in many pursuits and touched countless lives with his presence.

As a young child, Kirk received early intervention at Easter Seals and began occupational, speech, and physical therapies that continued for decades. He attended Deerwood Elementary, later charter schools, and participated in a home-school program through the National Association for Child Development, supported by his parents, caregivers, and University of Central Florida education students. He earned a high school diploma and found a meaningful place at the Conductive Education Center of Orlando, where he participated in adult day training.

Kirk loved dressing up for proms hosted by charitable organizations, performing in group plays and musicals, and acting for several years with Shakespeare with Heart at Orlando Shakes. He danced with Chance 2 Dance, an organization he helped inspire, and appeared in films produced at CECO using his eye-gaze speech device. He had a lifelong passion for music, dancing, jokes, and live theater, especially when it included songs. He found great joy in theme parks, concerts, and the annual proms and performances that brought him together with others. For more than twenty years he played baseball with the Central Florida Miracle League and took part in the opening game on the newly refurbished field in January 2026. He was a regular at Easter Seals Camp Challenge and, in recent years, discovered a special delight in surfing with the Oceans of Hope Foundation. Above all, Kirk cherished Christmas, listening to holiday music year-round and smiling brightly during the gospel at Christmas Eve Mass when Linus delivered the beloved line from A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Everyone who met Kirk was moved by his radiant smile and gentle heart. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his family remains grateful for every moment they shared and for everyone who walked alongside him.
