Kirk Alan Priefert
October 12, 1959— March 4, 2026
Gove, KS
Kirk Alan Priefert, 66, of Gove, Kansas, passed away on March 4, 2026, at the family farm where he was born, raised, and spent his entire life.
Born on October 12, 1959, in Gove County to August Jr. and Betty Jo (Gillespie) Priefert, Kirk remained a lifelong resident of the area, deeply connected to the land and the community around him. The family farm was the heart of his world, the place where his life’s story unfolded. He served his neighbors for many years with the Gove City Fire Department, rising to the role of Fire Chief, and was a longtime member of the Gove Odd Fellows Lodge.
Kirk found great pleasure in the company of friends, especially at Shad’s shop, where he would sit and visit while Shad worked. He held a lifelong passion for motorcycles and was an active member of ABATE Division 13 of Kansas. Among the bikes he owned, he particularly cherished his red Harley-Davidson FXR and his 2006 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. He also loved flying, from large RC model airplanes to drones, a joy reflected in his personalized license plate that read “LUV2FLY.” Kirk enjoyed attending car shows, proudly displaying his trophy-winning Dodge Viper, and in later years found contentment driving his Mahindra Roxor around the family farm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August Jr. and Betty Jo Priefert, and his brother, Don Ernest Priefert. He is survived by his son, Robin Priefert. Kirk will be remembered for his love of machines, his appreciation for the freedom of the open road, and the quiet satisfaction he found in a life rooted in the family farm and the friendships that enriched his days.
