Kimberly Kay Nevels

Kimberly Kay Nevels, age 56 of Jay, Florida, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born in Savannah, Georgia, and raised in Jay, she graduated from Jay High School in 1988. Kimberly devoted thirty years to teaching science with the Escambia County Board of Education in Alabama, where she taught middle and high school students with deep care and enthusiasm. Each summer she especially shone as she led science camp for children, sharing her love of learning in meaningful ways.

She lived life fully and found joy in shopping, spending time with family and friends, and all manner of crafts. Affectionately known as “Dudey,” a nickname that grew from the one her father gave his “little Dude,” Kimberly remained close to her roots and the people she loved.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, Karrie Kaylee (Tyler Hutchcraft) of Huntsville; her parents, Mike and Kay Nevels of Jay; her sister, Melinda (Brian) Johnson of Jay; her brother, James Michael Nevels of Jay; cherished nieces and nephews Mary (Robby) Yant, Austin (Courtney) Sapp, Brody Johnson, Joseph Nevels, and Holley James Nevels; two great-nieces and one great-nephew; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved dog, Savannah.
