Kimberly Allison Cornett, 45, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on March 6, 2026, surrounded by her family and beloved cats after a two-year battle with a rare and aggressive cancer.
Born on December 28, 1980, in Corpus Christi, Kim was the first-born daughter of John Cornett and Karen Lenken Daley. A woman of remarkable curiosity, creativity, and humor, she dedicated her life to her family, her friends, and her vocation as a counselor. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Oran Cornett, Margaret Makin Gibello, Philip Lenken, step-grandparents Wanda Sanders Cornett and Marcel Gibello, and stepfather Joseph Daley.
Kim shared a joyful and devoted marriage with her husband, Andrew De La Rosa, whom she wed on June 12, 2010. For nearly sixteen years they cared for each other, filled their home with laughter, and built a warm life together. She is survived by her husband Andrew, her father John Cornett, her mother Karen Lenken Daley, her sister Andrea Cornett and brother-in-law Daniel Davis, her nephew Sebastian Plumb and his partner Samuel Driscoll, her half-sister Angelia Cantar Cornett, her grandmother Margaret Wendel Lenken, and her aunts Laura Cornett Kneer and Gary, Kathy Jones and Cris, Karolyn Abbott and Curtis, and Tina Rader and Karl, along with many younger cousins.
A graduate of Mary Carroll High School in 1999, Kim earned an Associate of Arts in Psychology from Del Mar College, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and a Master of Science in Counseling from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She worked as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor at Bayview Behavioral Health Hospital and Charlie Health, while maintaining a thriving private practice where her empathy and insight helped many. An avid reader and film enthusiast who adored horror, Halloween, and campy fun, she cherished family gatherings, beach days, concerts, barbecues, and karaoke nights. Above all, she held a lifelong love for animals, especially the many cats she cared for throughout her life. Her nurturing spirit, humility, and compassion touched everyone who knew her.
