Kevin Michael Mathews, 53, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, at Franciscan Health in Olympia Fields. Born on February 11, 1973, he grew up in Coal City, where he attended Coal City High School and played football, forming friendships that remained strong throughout his life.

Kevin was a loving and loyal man who cherished his role as a devoted stepfather and proud grandfather. He possessed a deep passion for music, particularly heavy metal, and was an accomplished drummer who played whenever he could. Highly skilled in carpentry, he took great pride in his craftsmanship and the creations he built with his hands. He found peace outdoors, whether fishing or simply enjoying nature, and remained a dedicated Green Bay Packers fan who rarely missed a game. Above all, he held a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, Tange and Ruby, who were his constant companions.

He will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and the genuine love he showed to family, friends, and animals alike. Kevin will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
