Kevin McNamara ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Waitt Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Morganville on Mar. 16, 2026.Kevin McNamara, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on March 15, 2026, at Bayshore Hospital, Holmdel, NJ. Kevin was the fourth of six children born to Anita and James McNamara in Brooklyn, NY. The McNamara clan enjoyed early years of life in NY until they moved to the "country" of Matawan, NJ on Nov. 23, 1963. Kevin graduated from Matawan Regional HS in 1973. His interest in music and talent for singing was evident during his high school years when he performed as a tenor the NJ All State Chorus. Music was a passion for Kevin throughout his life, as he amassed more than 5,000 songs of different musical genres on his iTunes account. He particularly loved the Beatles and other classic rock bands. He graduated from Trenton State University, in 1977 as a business major. This led to a to a fulfilling 43-year career in the insurance industry, specializing in high net worth claims litigation. Kevin was admired by many professional colleagues through the years, known to be a fair and encouraging manager. His professional career led to long-lasting friendships that enriched his life.An avid sports enthusiast, Kevin's knowledge and passion for hockey, baseball, football, and golf were unparalleled. His NY roots influenced his loyalty for the Yankees, Rangers, Giants, as he attended countless games with his brothers and friends. He was the heart and soul of the McNamara Football Pool, a tradition he coordinated for over half a century with his brother, Jimmy, sharing his love of the game with so many friends, family members, and work colleagues.Kevin's love for travel and creating memories was evident through the countless McNamara family vacations at Chadwick Beach and the treasured trips to the NC Outer Banks with the Tivenans. He was a talented photographer entrusted with the task of taking all family photos. He was also a voracious reader, who enjoyed learning about history, politics, and the world of sports.Kevin's dedication to his work was paralleled only by his love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane and his adoring children, Daniel and Kate and Kevin Junice. Kevin was predeceased by his parents, James and Anita McNamara and his sister, Jane DiPreta. He will be missed by his siblings Jimmy (Kathy), Michael, (Karen), Sean (Karen), Bobby and many nieces and nephews and their families. Kevin's Catholic faith was a guiding light in his life, as he faced many medical challenges with hope and optimism in God's guiding Hand. His family is also grateful for the professional care he received at the Davita Dialysis Center in Matawan, NJ. Kevin's kindness, patience, intelligence and Irish wit will be remembered by so many people he encountered throughout his life. His presence will always be missed but his legacy of love will always be felt by those who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kevin's memory to Special Projects for Special Children of Old Bridge, 25 Heathrow Lane, Old Bridge, NJ.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
