Kevin John Lighter

Kevin John Lighter, 70, of Dover, passed away on March 8, 2026, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware.

Born on May 21, 1955, in Washington, D.C., to John Jacob and Zella Dee (Edwards) Lighter, Kevin served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1998, retiring as a Master Sergeant. He remained committed to service afterward as a senior member of the Civil Air Patrol and as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sue Bischoff Lighter; his daughter, Stephanie Marie Lighter; his son, Douglas Harrison Lighter; his sisters, Laura Lighter of Alabama and Becki Lighter of Maryland; and his brother, Jay Lighter of Florida.

Kevin faced his final years with courage while battling the rare disease Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to CUREPSP or Delaware Hospice.
