Kermit Eugene "Gene" Dickson

Kermit Eugene "Gene" Dickson

Fawn Grove, PA

Kermit Eugene “Gene” Dickson, 83, of Fawn Grove, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Born on April 23, 1942, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Kermit Ulysses Tuttle and Georgia Kathleen Roupe. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Helen Ruth Wiley Dickson for 55 years until her passing on September 10, 2019.

Gene moved from North Carolina to Street, Maryland, as a young child. He graduated from North Harford High School in 1960 and attended Harford Community College. In 1961, he enlisted in the Army, serving as a Military Policeman in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1963. He then began his career as a meat cutter, completing a two-year apprenticeship before joining The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, where he worked for 44 years and retired as a meat manager.

An avid animal lover, Gene cared for horses for 50 years and cherished many dogs, cats, and goats. He took great pride in maintaining the home he and Helen shared for 57 years. Good-humored and steadfast, he valued long-lasting friendships, lived by strong moral principles, and instilled those same standards in his children. Above all, his life was rooted in his faith; he accepted Jesus as his Savior as a boy and looked forward to being reunited with Helen in the arms of his Lord.

He is survived by his three children, Scott E. Dickson (Angie), Stephen W. Dickson, and Melissa J. Heaps (Paul); and six grandchildren, Alex, Ben, and Zach Dickson, and Chad, Todd, and Tabitha Heaps.
