Funeral services for Mr. Kerby Evans will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from the sanctuary of Bassfield Baptist Church, with the Reverend Ken Roberts officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Chapel Cemetery in Collins. Mr. Evans, age 65, entered into the eternal rest of his Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Saulters Moore Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
The family will receive friends on Thursday beginning at 10:00 am until the hour of service at 11:00 am at Bassfield Baptist Church.
Mr. Evans will be carried to his final rest by those honored to serve as pallbearers including T. W. Phelps, Evan Phelps, Sam Napier, Robert Evans, Charles Leggett, and Billy Boles.
Cowboy Bass, Randy Hathorn, Hubert Graves, Scott Courtney, Trent Hanegan, and the Bassfield Baptist Adult Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Kerby was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi on February 6, 1961, to R.G. and Yvonne Daughdrill Evans. A graduate of Pascagoula High School, he was raised with strong values and a strong work ethic. While in high school, Kerby began working at Hardees Restaurant, where his diligence and leadership propelled him to the role of location manager. He later went to work in the construction industry, building hotels. Afterward, he settled into his long-term career at Warren Manufacturing in Collins, where he retired as a machinist.
Kerby’s life extended beyond his professional achievements. Deeply rooted in his faith, he was ordained as a deacon at Victory Baptist Church and continued serving his Lord as a deacon at Bassfield Baptist Church, where he was a devoted member until his passing.
Kerby will be remembered as a generous man who had many friends. He loved gardening, and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with his neighbors. His passion for the outdoors was equally evident in his enjoyment of hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him peace and joy. Kerby and his wife Judy shared a special bond not only with each other but also with their cherished cats and dogs, reflecting their mutual compassion and love for animals.
Kerby Evans’s legacy is one of kindness, faith, and dedication. He leaves behind a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who knew him, remembered with deep respect and affection.
He is preceded in death by his parents, R.G. and Yvonne Evans; and his brothers in law, Tom Bevill, and Bob Broadus.
His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife, Judy K. Evans of Collins; his sisters, Kay Bevil, Kim Broadus, both of Ocean Springs, Kathy Leggett (Charles) of Hattiesburg, Kristi Phelps of Gautier; his brother, Kelon Evans (Debbie) of Mooresboro, NC; and his brother-in-law, Dickie King (Sue) of Madison. Mr. Evans also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
