Kenneth Zipperer, passed away peacefully in Durango, CO, on March 1, 2026, after a long and full life. He was 96.Kenneth was born on September 28th, 1929, in Savanah, GA, to Christian and Addie Zipperer. He was the middle child and only son, with both an older and younger sister. He was raised in Miami, FL, where he graduated high school and developed his love for the outdoors and football. After high school, he attended the University of Florida where he played football and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He graduated in 1951 with a degree in Entomology.After graduation Kenneth enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served during the Korean War with the 3rd Army, 8th infantry division. Ken spent the next twenty years with Orkin Exterminating in various management positions across the southwest. He married in 1958 and became a father in 1961. In 1974 he founded his own company, Entomo Services Inc., which owned and operated extermination companies throughout Texas.Ken bought a home in Durango, CO, in 1984, where he and his wife spent their free time. He loved to travel and after his wife passed away he made two trips overseas to Austria and Russia. He spent the rest of his time caring for his horses and spending time with friends and family. He was an active member of the B.P.O.E #405, American Legion Post #28 and Christ the King Lutheran Church.Ken was preceded in death by his parents Christion Edward Zipperer and Addie Tuttle Zipperer, his wife of forty years, Dorothy Myers Zipperer, his sister, Ethlyn Zipperer Curtiss, and niece, MaryAnn Curtis Palmisano. He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Zipperer Young, grandchildren, Russell Young, Patrick Young and Samantha Wooten (Taylor), great grandchildren Logan Wooten and Sabrina Wooten, his sister, Barbara Clark, nieces Barbara Curtiss and Michelle Clark, nephew Mark Curtiss (Lorie), and his cousin Edward Zipperer.Services and brief reception will be held at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Rd, Durango, CO, Saturday, March 28th, 2026, at 11am
