Kenneth Wayne Story

Kenneth Wayne Story

June 13, 1966 March 13, 2026

Sikeston, MO

Kenneth Wayne “Ken” Story of Sikeston, Missouri, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2026, at the age of 59.

Ken was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, brother, and uncle whose life was marked by dedication to his country and a deep love for his family. He had a gift for turning ordinary moments into great stories and family gatherings into rooms filled with laughter. His constant love for his family, his unforgettable humor, and his quiet strength will be deeply missed.

Ken proudly served his country as a United States Navy Corpsman, serving alongside United States Marines during the Gulf War era, including time in Bahrain during Operation Desert Storm. After his military service, he continued a career in law enforcement, serving others with the same courage, discipline, and commitment that defined his character throughout his life.

Above all, Ken was a family man. He shared a life of love and devotion with his wife, Christy Lynn Story, and together they faced life’s challenges with strength, faith, and perseverance. He was a loving father to Baileigh Story of Sikeston, Missouri, and Blake Story, and a proud father-in-law to Elizabeth Story. He cherished his role as grandfather to Kendriya Story and Jersee Story, who brought him great joy.

Ken was raised from a young age by his parents Treva “Janice” Story of Sikeston and Wayne Rhymer of Scott City, who lovingly stepped into his life when he was just a small child and raised him as their own. He was preceded in death by his mother, Esther “Jean” Rhymer, and his father, Thomas “Tom” Story. He is survived by his loving sisters, Teresa Haynes and her husband Toby, and Traci Ballard and her husband Aaron, all of Sikeston, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and great-nieces.

Those who knew Ken will remember a man of integrity, discipline, and quiet strength who believed in doing things the right way and stood firm in his faith and convictions. Even during difficult times and illness, his faith remained strong, and he was surrounded by the love of his family. His legacy of integrity, devotion, service, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
