Severson, affectionately known as Ken, Kenny, Iron Man, and Mr. Ken, lived a full and adventurous life. Born on June 2, 1936, in Spooner, WI, Kenneth was a spirited soul who believed in the power of resilience. His journey came to a peaceful close on March 11, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter.Kenneth's early life was marked by an unyielding spirit of adventure. His enthusiasm for life took him from Wisconsin to Northern Illinois, where he spent most of his life. Known for his unwavering determination, he worked for 31 years at Sundstrand in Rockford, IL, before retiring in 1992. His resilient spirit didn't stop there as he then worked for 20 years at Heartland Farms and also spent 31 years as a masonry laborer. His industrious nature earned him the affectionate nickname 'Iron Man'.Despite his busy professional life, Kenneth never let his hobbies take a backseat. An adventurous soul, he was one of the original Ski Broncs in Rockford, IL, and enjoyed water skiing, snowmobiling, and fishing. His laughter echoed in bowling alleys, and his joy was most palpable when attending his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. His friends were his chosen family, and friendships were what mattered most to him.Kenneth is survived by his loving children, Steve (Teresa) Severson; Rebecca (Samuel) Fertitta, Sheila (Timothy) Bond. His legacy lives on in the stories and memories shared by his grandchildren Erica (Matt); Justin (Kari), Robert (Nikki), Angela (Tim), Brock (Kristie), Aletha (Jeremy), Jordan (Melissa), Niki (Chris), Danielle (Mario), Jeffrey (Andrea) and 20 great-grandchildren. His siblings, Yvonne (Bob) Blaylock and Wayne (Wanda) Severson, also remember him fondly. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Florence Severson; his son, Scott Severson; the Mother of his children Gayle and his recent wife Marjorie Severson; and his siblings, Elise Fisher, Beverly Tighe, Lyle and Gordon Severson.Kenneth's life was a testament to the power of laughter in the face of adversity. His memory will continue to inspire all of us to live fully, laugh often, and love without limits. We invite all who knew Kenneth to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page.
