He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shears and Frances Shears (Wickham); his brothers, Bill Shears and Ronnie Shears; and his brother-in-law Dan Benson.

He is survived by: his wife Pam; his children, Kimberly Miller, Kara Shears, Amy Miller and K. Aaron Shears; his grandchildren, Tanner Flowers, Cody Flowers, Kennedy Flack, Haley Flack, Wyatt Spriggs, Levi Shears, Gavin Shears, Jacob Thatcher and Adyson Thatcher; his great grandchildren, Silas and Maverick; his sisters, Velvet Benson of Marietta and Shirley Fletcher (Bruce) of Apopka, Florida; and his sister-in-law Susan Beard. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center (101 Valleyside Dr, Delaware, OH 43015). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 12:15 PM at the Snyder Funeral Center, Delaware Chapel (101 Valleyside Dr, Delaware, OH 43015). A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 13th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Oak Grove Cemetery (334 S Sandusky St, Delaware, OH 43015).
