Keene, NH
Kenneth Raymond “Ken” Johnson Sr. of Keene, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at Cheshire Medical Center at the age of 79.
Born in Keene on February 21, 1947, Ken was the son of the late Raymond and Melissa (Nims) Johnson. A graduate of Monadnock Regional High School Class of 1965, he went on to attend Franklin Pierce College. He began his career as a machinist at Kingsbury Machine Tool in Keene and remained with the company for 43 years, advancing into management. During that time he served as President of the Kingsbury Credit Union and was a longtime member of the International Management Council.
Ken was known for his loyalty, strong work ethic, and love of the outdoors. In his younger years he enjoyed candlepin bowling, softball, and snowmobiling. He became an avid golfer and a regular at Brentwood Golf Course, and he remained a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, sharing countless games with his family. He was a familiar sight around town behind the wheel of his red F-150.
Above all, Ken cherished time with his family. He and his wife Sandra shared 60 years of marriage filled with trips to Las Vegas, cruises, summer barbecues, and quiet days by the family pool. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and uncle whose steady presence and warm smile will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra Johnson; sons Kenneth Johnson Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Wellesley, Massachusetts, and Kevin Johnson and his wife Erin of Riverside, Pennsylvania; daughter/niece Valerie Woiciechowski; grandchildren Makenzie, Conor, Emily, Deanna, Chandler, and Piper Johnson; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
