October 3, 1960— March 6, 2026
Newberg, OR
Kenneth Alan Juenemann, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Southwest Portland on March 6, 2026, at the age of 65.
Born on October 3, 1960, in McMinnville, Oregon, to Bill and Teresa Juenemann of Newberg, Ken grew up in Newberg and graduated from Newberg High School in 1979. Following in his father’s footsteps, he spent more than 35 years working for Safeway, retiring in 2022. He took genuine pleasure in greeting his regular customers and sharing friendly conversations with them.
Ken had a lifelong love of old movies and television shows, particularly science fiction and British programming. He was a devoted fan of Doctor Who and Star Trek. In his younger years he crafted his own root beer, following his mother’s tradition, and experimented with making wine and beer. He maintained a garden for many years, enjoying the challenge of growing different vegetable varieties, and took pride in cooking and inventing his own recipes. Ken also possessed a creative and artistic spirit. As a high school student he explored clay sculpture, woodworking, and building. He once made two beautiful wooden doll cradles for his young twin nieces, completing the gift in time for Christmas despite injuring his hand during the project.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Teresa Juenemann, and his longtime friend and partner, Teddy Nielsen, Ken is survived by his twin sister Kathleen Neer, sisters Linda Harrop, Maryann Allen, and Michelle Tadlock, brothers John and Fred Juenemann, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by Teddy’s children—Desiree, Christy, and Kyle—who regarded him as a second father.
