Keith Leon Koontz

Keith Leon Koontz, 87, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on March 10, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on January 8, 1939, in Bloomington to Clyde and Edna Koontz, Keith graduated from Bloomington High School in 1957. He worked the family farm, served in the U.S. Army, owned a service station in the 1970s, and spent more than 25 years as a machinist at Otis Elevator. On June 18, 1965, he married the love of his life, Betty Rogers, at the Greene County Chapel. Together they made their home in Bloomington for most of their years, with a period spent in California to be near their grandchildren. Keith found great joy in fishing, camping, and traveling with family.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; his daughter, Lisa Koontz; his son, Kevin Koontz; and his grandchildren, Cameron Shellnut, Annie Koontz, and Brayden Koontz. Keith is also survived by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Rogers, two sisters, Karen Waldon and Bonnie Snow, and several nieces and nephews. The tenth of thirteen children, Keith was blessed by the steadfast presence of his sisters during his final illness.
