Keith Alan Murphy

Keith Alan Murphy, age 72, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, passed away on March 6, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. Born on January 23, 1954, in Evansville to the late Joseph “Joe” L. Murphy Jr. and Lily “Glo” (Wagner) Murphy, Keith graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1972. He began his career at GE Plastics in 1974 and later earned a Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering in 1990. After 40 years of dedicated service, he retired in 2014.

A life member of the Mt. Vernon Conservation Club and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #5, Keith earned his pilot’s license in 1990 and took great joy in flying. He also cherished time spent hunting, fishing, bowling, and especially golfing. Above all, he was known as a great man who was deeply loved by everyone who knew him.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 39 years, Jennifer Lynn (Newman) Murphy; his brothers, Jeffrey and Barry Murphy; and his sister, Cathy Murphy. He is survived by his children, Tawana (Duane) Cox and Eric (Liz) Murphy; his grandsons, Trevor Cox and Hunter (Maddie) Murphy; and his longtime partner, Julie Diekmann.
